IT HAS just been around 3 weeks that Google + was launched, but it has
been attracting people from various walks of life and different age
groups. The new networking site has become so popular in a span of
three weeks that it has already reached 20 million members. Out of
these users, 5 million are from the US alone and India comprises of
2.85 million users. It was launched on June 28.
It is supposed to provide stiff competition to another social
networking site, Facebook, which comprises of around 750 million
users. Twitter is said to comprise of around 200 million users.
But is said that Google + is not a threat towards Facebook at present
- as it has a dedicated and loyal customers who would not swap for
Google +, which has just entered into the arena.
Google+ is functioning in the invitation mode only so people are
curious as to what increase would it see in the number of users, once
the membership is free through normal registration too, without
invitation.
Google+ has not been marketed as much as it can, as the networking
site is still under the beta mode. They are planning to improve it in
various ways, which would provide a strong competition to other
networking sites. They already have good features such as Circles,
Sparks, Stream, and they want to improve upon it. Larry Page, who is
the CEO for Google, was very happy with the response that he has
received for Google +.
